Studio 1987 creates original hand-painted textile and surface pattern designs for retailers, brands and manufacturers worldwide. Based in New York and supported by an international team of artists, we develop distinctive artwork for home textiles, bedding, fashion, wallpaper, paper products and dinnerware, transforming each concept into a production-ready seamless pattern.
ORIGINAL HAND-PAINTED ARTWORK
Our design process begins by hand. Our artists work with watercolor, gouache, pencil, ink and mixed media to create original artwork with character, movement and authentic detail. Every finished design is developed by experienced textile artists and is never created as final artwork using artificial intelligence.
SURFACE PATTERN DEVELOPMENT
We transform original artwork into carefully balanced seamless repeats suitable for production. Designs can be adjusted for scale, color and product application, with coordinating prints, alternative colorways and complimentary reverse patterns available when required.
PRODUCTION-READY DESIGN FILES
Final designs are supplied as high-resolution, layered PSD or TIFF files at 300 DPI, prepared for sampling and manufacturing. Vector artwork and indexed color separation can also be provided when required for specific production processes.
